Children's Discovery Center
The warehouse of the 1901 Missouri-Pacific Depot houses a hands-on Children's Discovery Center.
Established in 1979 The Rusk County Children's Discovery Center is an innovative learning environments.  It is housed in the cotton storage warehouse of the original Depot building.

Our Center encourages children to get involved, to manipulate, to create, to be curious and to solve problems.

Our displays and "hands-on" learning materials are relative to early childhood development.  Newly remodeled in 2012 as a Renaissance Club project and subsidized by the community, the new activities teach about life in the past, as well as helping children be creative and curious about the future.

The activities for the Children's Discovery Center are selected to reinforce those that our children have at home, at school and in the community.
The Rusk County Children's Discovery Center aspires to preserve the Heritage of Rusk County, to promote the present in interesting ways and to project into the future what life in East Texas might be like.
